Hi FurryNutz,
Thanks for the reply. I'm on HW A1, FW 1.02, in the US. Just bought it today.
The following is meant with respect, so please don't read into it. It is not directed at you personally.
The "feature not meant for home" does not hold water here. The router clearly allows for the configuration of static routes, and the manual offers no criteria to when this will and will not work and with what interfaces. Who delivers a router that can only set static routes on the WAN interface? Who would even consider that was a limitation that needed checked on? While setting static routes is an activity that only the advanced might use, this is an advanced router is it not? I cannot see why someone thought they better include WAN facing static routes, but that's it.
Additionally, you can clearly set IPv6 static routes that are LAN facing. Why the choice to allow static routes on the LAN interface with v6 and not v4?
Thankfully you can hack it, and it works. It's just annoying and really seems like an oversight in functionality on this model. It's a simple fix, obviously, since it's rather simple to work around.
In the end it's just my opinion, and I mean nothing other than to vent the frustration. If it could be reviewed for the next FW update that would be outstanding. Thanks for listening.
