If an IP address is reserved on the router for the DCS-5020L, there are only a limited number of things that could cause the IP address not to stick:Make sure the DCS-5020L is set to DHCP in the web UI under SETUP > Network Setup > LAN Settings. Failing to do this can cause the IP address to changeMake sure other devices do not have a static IP address set to the same value that's being reserved for the DCS-5020L. This can cause a conflict that can result in the camera dropping off the networkMake sure the reserved IP address falls within the IP range established for your router. For example, if your router is using the IP range of 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.0.40, then a good IP address would be 192.168.0.10 (i.e. don't use 192.168.0.90)It's always best practice to allow the router to perform the role of central IP management for all devices on your network to avoid potential conflicts.DCS Network Cameras - Why Did My Camera IP Address Change? This marks my first post of the year for 2014!
I've checked those things and everything is correct. I set my DCS-933L to 192.168.0.10 and the DCS-5020L to 192.168.0.20 last night. The 5020L was 192.168.0.105 this morning. I checked the router settings and .20 was no longer reserved, so I reserved .105 about 20 minutes ago. Only time will tell.
. . . sent false alerts all day long when it randomly changed from day to night even when there was no change in lighting and it was pointed at a blank wall. I tested it by facing it toward a lamp and turn it off and on. It would send me an alert email each time. I'm staring to wonder if this may be causing the IP to change somehow. Losing confidence fast, but I would like to hang it out and get this working.
I'm glad you solved the camera connectivity issues. I suggest you post your D-ViewCam questions on the appropriate board: D-ViewCam
