I am working in a project with 46 cameras d-link of the models dcs 950, dcs 950g, and some dcs 5300 PTZ. I can access all the cameras through web browser ever, but can not get D-ViewCam be stable. I can make all the cameras appear in d-viewcam, but suddenly, minutes our hours ago, some cameras disconnect themselves and then I got the message “connecting” but they do not appear never more. This is very random; it could happen with any our lots of cameras. I’m using 32 CAM’s in one PC, and the others on another PC.  It is a project that can cost me very expensive professionally if this software does not function well. What can I make to solve? The version is 2.03 and all the firmwares are the latest. I tried Win2003 and XP. I tried using different IP ports for each camera and tried different kind of users, with password and even without one. Please somebody HELP ME!

What are your PC specs?

This are the specs:
Processor -> Intel Core 2 Duo E7400
MotherBoard -> Gigabyte 945GCM-S2C
DDR2-> 1x 2GB Kingston
NIC -> Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC
VGA -> nVidia GeForce 8400 GS
HD -> Samsung HD502IJ

I have formated the PC and installed Win XP again, and then installed D-View CAM new version, 2.04. But the problems are the same. Some cameras get disconnected and then appears the message "connecting" but nothing happens. Please help me!

Hi,

I have the same problem as well using a number of different computers. I am also running the DCS-1110 cameras, so its probably a problem with the software rather than the camera since it does it for 2 different models.

Basic Requirement for Installing D-ViewCam
Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional SP4, Windows XP Professional SP1, or Windows XP Home Edition SP1 (Windows XP Professional
SP1 is recommended)
Pentium 4 2.0 GHz or above, at least 256 MB RAM, 100MB free hard disk space or above
Network: 10/100 Mbps Ethernet
Display card: nVidia, TNT2, or GeForce with at least 32 MB display memory

Minimum Requirement for Multiple Camera Configurations

For 1 to 4 channels:
CPU: Intel P-4 2.8G Hz or above
SDRAM: 512MB Memory
Hard Disk: 40GB or above

For 5 to 9 channels:
CPU: Intel P-4 2.8G Hz or above
SDRAM: 512MB Memory
Hard Disk: 60GB or above

For 10 to 16 channels:
CPU: Intel P-4 3.0G Hz or above
SDRAM: 1GB Memory
Hard Disk: 80GB or above

The above system requirements can vary depending on the number of cameras installed and the complexity of the tasks performed. The
above specification supports up to two build-in motion detections. A more powerful processor is recommended if more build-in motion
detections are required.

[Note] Recording video over a long period of time will consume large amounts of disk space. Make sure that you have enough disk space
available if you want to use recording function. You can still complete installation even if you have less than suggested free disk space.

The CPU is an Intel Core2Duo, with 2Gb RAM, and 500Mb HD. But even if I use less cameras, the problem of disconnection persists, but via web-browser they still on-line. I wonder if I can make an HTML with multiframes showing the cameras, how could I make this work?? do you have a sample of this "possiblity"?? Maybe it can be my solution.

As with mine I have a core 2 duo with 2 gigs of RAM. I have set up recording through the web interface of the camera and it records to a DNS-323 so disk space is not an issue. and I only use the software when I am at the location.

A web interface would be nice, or just not have the cameras drop their connections.

is the PC running many other processes during surveillance? Also is there alot of other network traffic on the switch. If so it is best to configure VLANs on the switch if possible.

As for me, the only thing running on the switch is cameras, the NAS, and than the computer that is viewing the cameras. There are not many processes running on my computer either.

Im my case, in this LAN only cameras and one PC (the monitor with D-view cam). There is no internet. The Windows XP is a full nwe installed system, without antivirus, and firewall disabled, because is a private network, only for cameras. This morning i saw the PC rebooting itself, because a process of the d-view cam, watchdog, how do i disable this??

Do the DCS-5300 cameras disconnect as well? The DCS-950/950G and DCS-1110 are basically the same cameras just the 1110 is PoE.

now only the 950g get disconnected. The D-view CAM 2.04 is very more stable than 2.03. Now I have the problem only with the 950G. All the others cameras are working well. When using the software d-viewcam suddenly the cameras 950g get disconnected and then appears "connecting" but don't work anymore. Then, trying to access by the web browser I get this message in this cameras 950g: "The login have been exceed 10 users - Login Again". The firmware version is 1.08.  I wonder if there is another firmware just for this model???  This problem is the only one to get all my system working like i desired. Exceed 10 users..did you ever see this issue with 2.03?

Yes... with 2.03 it happens too.
D-link support in Brazil told me that exists an special firmware, is this correct?? Can you verify this for me??
