This is under review at D-Link as of yesterday. Seems like there may be a problem between the router and these particular phone models your experiencing.

I presume these phones work at different locations with different WiFi or WiFi routers?

I would recommend that you phone contact D-link support and ask for level 2 or higher support. Refer to this thread and lets start some support information going.

I'll post back here if I get any information.

I registered on this forum to get support for this same exact issue. I have a Galaxy s5 with custom firmware and my wife has the HTC one(m8) on the latest stock firmware. As for the router I have the latest 1.0.6 b04 patch. everytime i reset the router it works fast for my phones for the first minute then slows down to a crawl afterwards. it's been this way since the 1.03 b07? patch i believe. all my other devices work completely fine

• Was a Factory Reset performed before and after any firmware updates then set up from scratch?

Is Smart Connect enabled on your router or disabled?
If disabled, what wireless modes are you using?

I suspect that there are driver issues between Android and the 890L. I guess Dlink may incorporate those drivers in the next FW release.

I suspect an OS issue on the phones.    However, this has been sent to D-Link. It's under review.  All I can do. 

If users are concerned about this, I recommend phone contacting D-Link support for more immediate help and information regarding this. Ask for level 2 or higher support. Let us know what goes on.

Spoke with Level 3 Support. Ran 1 billion tests. They have kicked it up to Network Engineering as an issue and will contact me in 2-3 Business Days with a status. I know he collected a lot of data (settings) and he said he got all the documentation required. We tried changing different MAC addresses and even re-created the issue with the Factory Default. Will update this thread when I get more information.

FIXED. Worked with Randy from Level 3 Support. We tried a billion things. It wasn't until we loaded the Latest Firmware FW1.06.B04 Release which just became available that our Android Devices now work perfectly with the DIR-890L.

OOPS.... Spoke too soon.  About an hour ago, both my Androids slowed down and are basically unusable through the DIR-890L.  I will be contacting Level 3 support again tomorrow.

Spoke with another technical support person yesterday. They are going to have NW Engineering call me for more troubleshooting efforts. I have not heard from them yet but they did indicate that it could be take 24 hours to get a call back.

OK, I presume it may take some time for them to review this and test it out in the lab. Please be patient. If anything happens I presume they may give you a beta or the fix will come in the next FW update.

I am having the EXACT same issue. It's not a speed issue, or latency issue, it's a communication issue with the router. I have 3 Android tablets and 2 Android phones in the house all with the same issue. Running latest firmware 1.06. I upgraded from a Linksys router and did not have this issue. Please let me know if a fix for this is found.

2 Asus Nexus 7 tablets with latest Android versions
1 LG G3 smart phone with the latest Android version
1 Motorola Droid Maxx smart phone with latest version of Android
1 LG Pad 8.3 LTE with latest version of Android

First, I apologize for not keeping this post up-to-date. I got a call from DLINK Network Engineering and ran through many different tests with no successful resolution. It was determined by the NW Engineer that I may have a defective router so, they sent me a new one.

Same exact issue with the new router. I communicated that to the NW Engineer.

I have not heard back from my email stating the problem is not with the HW.

Thanks for the update, I know it's not a HW issue, it's a software issue somewhere. It's as if the Android OS waits several seconds to attempt to connect to the router for information. You can see the two are communicating but it doesn't actually transfer data for 20-30 seconds and even then it's painfully slow. Running a speed test shows good speed and latency but that too takes quite a while to communicate with the router before the test actually runs.
