Hello,

I'm having troubles setting up my printer with Shareport 4.5.0 on Windows 10.  I want to enable auto connect and choose connect automatically only for printing.  To enable this feature I'm instructed to click configure.  When I do that I get a message saying "checking if the device's driver is installed."  This message never goes away and I have to end task Shareport via task manager to get it to respond (clicking Cancel doesn't work).  I know the device driver is installed because I can connect the printer to my PC directly and it prints fine.  Also, if I choose automatically connect device when it's available, it will connect my printer and I can print.  The trouble is that no one else can connect since it's connected permanently to this PC.

I've tried uninstalling / reinstalling Shareport and this hasn't helped.  I also reinstalled my print driver which hasn't worked.  I have other PC's running Windows 7 and they all work fine.  Does anyone have any other ideas I can try?

What OS platform are you using? x32 or x64?

Disable any PC security software before installing.

Try this,
Reboot the PC and hit F8 after the Post BIO screen, select the Disable Driver Enforcement option then continue to reboot and try to install.

I'm running x64.

Sorry for the late response.  I tried disabling driver enforcement and this didn't solve the issue.  I uninstalled / reinstalled both Shareport and the printer driver and still no luck.

I would make contact with D-Link on the phone and ask them for help and information regarding installation of SP on Windows 10.

I've swapped my "main PC" to another machine and have been having major issues getting SharePport Plus installed and working correctly under Windows 10 - creator's edition (version 1709, build 16299.731).

I previously downloaded SharePoint Plus v4.50 (linked via this forum) which worked on an earlier version of Windows 10 - but I was having issues getting the printer connected - and the "auto connect" feature (which is needed when the printer is shared between multiple PCs) just didn't work - it wouldn't recognise the printer driver as being installed, even though it showed up in "devices and printers" in Windows.

I did a bit of digging, on installation it creates two firewall rules - one for "SharePort Plus" and is linked to the locationn of the main executable, the other is simply labelled "SXUPTP" and allows incoming UDP traffic to port number 19540. Searching on the name "SXUPTP" identified that this is the name of the driver which does the work behind the scenes, it is from a company called "Silex Technology" who appear to be an OE manufacturer. Looking on their support website found a link to a support page here, on which is a download for "SX-Virtual Link" v4.3.0, dated 12.06.2017 - which explicitly lists support for 32 and 64 bit Windows 10.

I downloaded and installed this (removing the D-link SharePort Plus first) and it looks very similar - confirming that Silex are most likely the OEM - and the auto-connect also times out, but it gives you the option to cancel searching and manually specify a printer. I selected that - and the appropriate printer - job done  :D

So if you're struggling - try the above, it would appear D-Link aren't interested any longer as the revision 'A' DIR-868L router is now listed as "This product has been discontinued. Free support for this product has ended on 11/01/2016" ...  ::)

The DIR-868L is EOL as of 2016 as well as the D-Link Shareport software.

I presume these users have already moved on. Thanks for posting. Hope this will help future users.
