One matter concern me, let's go back to basic setup issue, I bought a 3T HDD and put in 327L. after it formatted I lost over 290G and I only got 2.7T from my HDD. Now I wonder if 1 whole partition I lost 290G volume, will it be lost lesser if I divided it by 2; 1.5T + 1.5T? Anyone has tried this before?  ???

That's normal . Hard disk 1TB=1000GB but it's 1TB=1024GB on platform (Windows , linux ...etc).
3000*1000*1000*1000/1024/1024/1024= about 2.7T

I can't help with the loss of storage except that if a HD states 1.5TB it never is 1.5TB it's always less

I have a 2TB and a 1TB - my total available storage  2.68TB

Regarding the previous subject if you want to protect your files give read access only and have only one account for these - if you have one family member who you trust that knows what they are doing then create separate account with read/write access.  <<  I know where you are coming from.

So we do pay extra more for the undersize HDD that those factories claimed. What a rip off!   >:(

Is there any better way to control these? It's still a major concerns for family and guests access..   ???   Of course, deny all entry is easy but defeat the original purpose though..  :-\

Read only access - means they can download or stream but they cannot upload or over write  or edit or delete - your files will be safe

When you setup a user and give access to folders there is an option to allow Read/Write - those you don't trust need to be Read
