   One more question I see there is also a revision B of this router. What is better?

   The local store does have the 825 with 1.01. Is this another case where they have
firmware updates that cannot be rolled back?

Yeah, once you update the 825 to 1.11 I don't think you can rollback.  I haven't had any issues with 1.01.

If you don't think you will ever use the 5ghz, might be worth just getting the 655 with 1.21.  If you do get the 825, save everything (box, etc) and if you have an issues running 1.01 just return it.

   Problem is all I can find is the A4 revision. One had the 1.20 and one the 1.21 Firmware. I know I cannot go back to the 1.10 with this A4. Is the 1.21 better them the current 1.32NA (that I have on an A3)?  I assume one you goto 1.3xx there is no return to 1.21  correct???

The fact that D-link can't reproduce this issue doesn't really tell me anything.  Sometimes customers run into issues that we have a hard time reproducing.  But just because it can't be reproduced doesn't mean there isn't a bug in the code.  It sometimes means there is something we are overlooking in our testing, or issues that can only be hit during the real world use of our software.

The real world use of the device is exactly where the cause of the issues is. So many ways to cripple the OS networking parts...

Well, dlink needs to go back into the diffs between 1.11-1.21-1.31 and figure out what changes made to the firmware would cause freezing until normal use.

1.21 is better than the current 1.32, and once you go to 1.31 you can't go back (although I think someone posted a way you can, but I can't comment on stability after that).

The 1.21 firmware is going to be probably a lot like the 825 1.01 firmware since they both have shareport.

check the beta subforum, I thought someone figured it out by modifying the 1.21 firmware file to trick the router into thinking it was 1.31.  But who knows if the new kernal will like that.
