Installed fine for me.

The only thing I've noticed so far is the ability to refresh a multimedia share, rather than having to refresh every share which I've had to do in the past. I don't think this is covered in the release notes.

The smart tv fix I'm yet to test but am happy to see has been tackled as this was a big limitation for me.

Disappointingly I still can't browse my content on the Samsung smart tv. It still shows no content in the root music/videos/photos folders.

I had the same problem. You need to add the folders in the UPnP av server settings under application management.

I had the same problem. You need to add the folders in the UPnP av server settings under application management.

I refreshed an existing uPnP folder containing my video content after updating. I'd have thought that would have been enough, but still couldn't see anything.

Hi,
I have a serious problem. I installed firmware version 1.02 but had to realize that the UpN Server did no longer work with my Samsung TV. So I tried to switch back to firmware version 1.01b03, but something went awfully wrong. The green update circle is rotating forever and does not stop!

Please help!

same problem here with a Philips TV, upgraded to 1.02, UPnP server folders empty, deleted, created again, nothing to do, downgraded to 1.01 FW and  everything works again.
Made this process two times, same results, no success with FW 1.02

I just upgraded my DNS-320L to the latest firmware 1.02b07 but found a major problem with upnp av server.
My Sony BDP-S790 seems to be able to connect to the NAS but impossible to get folder/files list anymore...
I restarted everything ... same issue. I  was not able to make it work with the latest  firmware.

So I reverted it back to v1.01 (fortunately it is possible).

I have upgraded to 1.02b07 all looks fine.

Yes, after the firmware upgrade I have to manually run the refresh all in order my Panasonic Smart TV can list out all the supported media files.

Thanks Java for the quick response.

Thank you.

Okay, installed the 29-Mar v1.02 firmware. Previously on the original v1.00, if that matters. Two observations. The web login screen sometimes response with "error, wrong password," but either re-entering or just pressing the button again, will get me in. I'm using just one 2Tb Green WD drive, about 20% used. So as suggested, did a refresh for UPandP in the Video and Music directories. The Music directory can't finished, stuck at 40%.

The more files in the folder, the longer it will take. I recommend testing the refresh on a share containing only a handful of files to see if it's working before refreshing shares with a lot of content.

Hello,

I upgraded to FW 1.02 and refreshed the UPnP Folders. There are two, one with videos and anothher one with pictures in several subfolders. I checked with my Samsung TV, actually the NAS is connected via Powerline with a Samsung blue-ray player that connects to the Samsung TV via HDMI. The videos were accesible at once - good. With the pictures it was a slightly different story. I had the choice to select subfolders or all pictures. To get to the subfolder list  was only possible after several trials, mostly the Samsung system told it could not access them. When I checked all pictures they were accessible though it took some time to get the list transferred. Also, I realized that the fan of the NAS was on much more often, though NAS was basically inactive. I switched back to version 1.01 again, where the problems described do not exist.

To me FW version 1.02 shows no progress compared to 1.01.

Hi,
I'm bought DNS-320L to stream movies, music and photos all over my home network especially my TV LG LW5500 from 2011 as a network player compatible with DLNA standard.
This is total disaster...
All my electronic devices which are DLNA players (TV LG LW5500 from 2011, Tablet with And 4.1 and Samsung GSII with And 4.0 (by Total Commander or Home Media apps)) are not able to play, but even see only few folders with media (all devices see the same folders (about 5% of all enabled folders))
Only Yamaha VCR 671 could play music.
Total Commander see and can open doc. and pdf. fails but that's all. Nothing more.
Now I upgraded FW to 1.02 and like with 1.00, 1.01 there is no progress. Even worse because Yamaha VCR 671 has "denied access" to NAS...
Of course I refresh shares in Applications Management/ Multimedia Services/Multimedia Shares Setting and on of course I enabled UPNP AV server.
Of course I contacted my local DLink services but they told me that they have no access to LG LW series TW and they can't check.
I have checked many forums worldwide and found out that there are a lot of people suffering the same problems.
Is there any chance to improve DNS-320L's cooperation by DLNA or do we have to buy Synology...
This is my first post and could anybody let me know how to pass this case to the producer?
Regards, Michal

you can try to install fun_plug and one of the alternative dlna/upnap-av servers (minidlna, twonky etc), but obviously this problem should be solved by dlink, not by unsupported addons

hummm bad story....
it seems new fw is less compatible than the older in terms of upnp/dlna
after succesfully refreshed the multimedia library i'm still experiencing the denied access issue from the tv (samsung ps51d6900) to the nas and then no files are listed.
the only way to access the media is using zappotv app connecting the nas via windows share and push the files to the tv... not so happy with this solution.
will try again and again but i think i will revert back to the old release

Refreshed all my shares over the weekend in the hope of getting content available on my Smart TV (Samsung UE46ES5500) and still no luck.

This never worked before or after the firmware update but after reading the notes for the fix I thought I'd go through the motions of the full refresh in case it kicked it into life but still nothing.

I'd be a very disappointed owner if I didn't also have the PS3.

Here's what we have so far:

  • Samsung BD-D5500 [Unable to play content; Not working with FW v1.02, but works w/ FW v1.0 & 1.01]
  • Samsung BD-E5200 [Pictures in subfolders won't open]
  • Samsung TV D7000 [Unable to play content; Not working with FW v1.02, but works w/ FW v1.0 & 1.01]
  • Samsung TV PS51D6900 [No video files currently available message, worked with FW 1.01]

Please include:
Samsung TV ES5500 [No content of any type accessible. Has never worked on v1.0, v1.01 or v1.02]

Additionally, since refreshing my content I can't even browse it any more via the Playstation. This has been an occasional issue in the past, and re-listing the media servers on the PS3 has fixed it. I tried this 4 times in succession yesterday and still couldn't browse my content. It may still be an intermittent thing but failing to connect four times in a row is unprecedented for me so I fear the worst at the moment.

I got a different issue:
I've got a revision A1.
I tried to refresh the firmware, displayed it was successful, than after reboot
There was a pop-up

'Step 5: Formating your harddrive(s)'

I hit an Exit, I wasn't sure I wanted to loose every data. However there were no warning.

Since than seem like I'm a middle of nowhere.

I'm able to manage the device, but the old 1.00 firmware version is displayed, I can not access the files as a network drive, and of course DLNA function is gone.

Is there a hard reset option, becouse if I want to restart the device, it's prevents me, bacouse of firmware update/formating.

Any ideas what to do?

I got a different issue:
I've got a revision A1.
I tried to refresh the firmware, displayed it was successful, than after reboot
There was a pop-up

'Step 5: Formating your harddrive(s)'

I hit an Exit, I wasn't sure I wanted to loose every data. However there were no warning.

For a reset to the factory default settings, While the DNS-320L is powered up, press and hold the reset button on the rear of the unit for > 8 seconds.  This will erase all user settings, but should not impact HDD formatting and data.

Okay, installed the 29-Mar v1.02 firmware. Previously on the original v1.00, if that matters. Two observations. The web login screen sometimes response with "error, wrong password," but either re-entering or just pressing the button again, will get me in.

That's the same for me..
No problem with FW 1.00 and 1.01

Hi,
Please also include Samsung TV UE46EH6030W [No content of any type accessible. Has never worked on v1.0, v1.01 or v1.02]

Perhaps not the good thread but it was the same on my "old" DNS-320 with every firmware 2.xx

Hello,

on Samsung UE40C6000, DLNA works well with FW 1.01 (but not perfect, i have a error message on the TV when i want to turn back on main menu - Picture/Music/Video)
With 1.02 => no files appears, even if i refresh all/one by one folders on the NAS.

I'm disappointed guys. I intalled the new version but I seems too buggy.

1. I can't plan s.m.a.r.t. check:
    - Management -> Disk Management -> S.M.A.R.T. Test -> S.M.A.R.T. Test:
When I check "Send Result By E-mail" it shows me the warning message "Failed Email setting. Please check your setting at System Management -> Email Alerts". But I set it right. Whent I click on the link "Email Alerts" in the warning message, it redirects me to Management -> System Management -> Notifications -> Email Settings. I check the setting and test it again. It shows me that it is ok and I receive the testing email. So I save it again, go to the S.M.A.R.T. menu again but there is the same error all the time. Additionally I checked "Send The S.M.A.R.T. Test Result" in Notification -> EventSettings but still the same.
    - Management -> Disk Management -> S.M.A.R.T. Test -> S.M.A.R.T. Test:
I can't see the table with the list of hard drives, so I can't check them. It is not possible to create Schedule when the hard drives are not selected. It shows me error message "Please select a hard drive."
How can I set the S.M.A.R.T. check??

2. Management -> System status -> System Info -> Device Information:
Instead of temperature, there is the text "undefined".
Where can I check the temperature??

3. Management -> System status -> Hard Drive Info:
When I click on the Hard Drive Info button, the rotating circle appears and stayed there forever.
Where can I find Hard Drive Info information??

4. When I log in, I must do it two times becouse for the first time, it tells me I have wrong password.
It is not problem for me. I doesn't log in very often and if so, I can live with it.

There are not these issues int the previous version (1.01). When I found out the new version of the firmware doesn't work, I restart the setting to the default values. It doesn't help.

On the other hand, the firmware is noticeably qucker and I can see some additional options, which I appreciate guys. But it is not usable for me the NAS now. I need to set the S.M.A.R.T. check at least. Could you tell me, how to do it? If not I will return it back to the shop. I have it third day and it is not problem to get rid of it.

Did the update to 1.02 (SW-Date: 03/29/2013) and it seems the GUI to be a bit faster.
But I miss the " My Music" -Link, I've seen in a screenshot around here.
Went something wrong or do I need glasses / brain reset?

The bugs I described happened to me when I use computer with Windows 7 and the browser Chrome. I tried it again on another computer with Windows XP and the browser Firefox and it worked very well. Then I tried it again with the first computer (W7 + Firefox) and same bugs. I guess it is browser issue - not depending on operating system but I'm not sure. If anyone reproduce these bugs, just try it again with Firefox (or IE). I can confirm issue 2, 3, 4 are ok. When it comes to issue 1, I checked only the list of hard drives. I didn't try to create Schedule with email notification. So I'm sorry guys. You did really good work. The firmware is significantly better. Looking forward to next version.

Next problems (THIS works like a charm...):

Updated FW to 1.02, refreshed music library.
- This lasts nearly the whole night. So, the problem with the nearly 100% usage of the CPU isn't solved yet.
You can't do anything with the NAS.
- Not any of my Android devices (all running Android 4.x) will recognice the uPnP content, neither the stock
DLNA player nor Bubble uPnP. Databrowser works fine, but there's no way to use the media via uPnP.
The server is found and shown, but not the content ("No such object") .
  Frustrating...

With 1.01 this worked perfect.
So I downloaded the FW 1.01 from the official Website, but I'm not able to install, the system stays under 1.02.

Is there any way to get back the DLNA functionality under 1.02 or to downgrade the system?

As mentioned in the referenced post (in red), refreshing a large media library can take a very long time.  The recommended approach is to refresh a small sub-directory containing a more reasonable number of files, which should demonstrate if/how the solution works for you.  From there, you can choose an incremental approach (refreshing a few directories at a time), or doing everything in one shot, which can take a very very long time.

Therefore I ran it overnight and while I was out of home.
It's another topic, I think.

Unfortunately, this can't solve my primary problem of the not reachable mediafiles.  >:(

Do You have any suggestions?

And: I can't find this "My Music" application...
_____________
Edit:

Next problem: There's no way to add an application to the favourites.
Another one: No way to find the way back to the home from "My Photos"...

_____________

In summary I'd give FW 1.01 a second chance (if I knew, how to downgrade...) or return the DNS and buy another system.

It's unbelievable to me, that a buggy FW like this comes to the users.

Edit N°2: Don't ask me why, the NAS WORKS, the My-Music-Application is shown, the uPnP works.

Workaround: Downgrade on 1.01, full reset the system and update again.

I'm too.

Finally I'm shure, this was not the last problem to solve...  8)

______________

Edit:

It seems, I was right withe "next problems to come" prediction.

Copied another bunch of music to the NAS. The copy process was fine, allthough it blocked any other action because of the processor usage.
Looking for the copied songs in the morning I recognized, that they are not in the database.

Do I really have to refresh the database with every single copied file??

This would mean to have a non-reacting NAS for hours, everytime when added one title.
If this is the truth, the DNS-320l is not usable for my purposes.

Anyone around here, who knows something about that case?

Edit 2:

Recognized the problem, that after refreshing the media database a restart is neede to make the NAS visible for other devices.
Anyone around with the same?

Performing a factory reset will clear all user settings, but should not impact stored data or HDD configuration.  You can save a "Configuration File" which will retain all your settings for restoration.  Performing a factory reset will retain the current FW version.

** Always create a backup of your data before performing this procedure (although there should be no impact).

As far as i noticed the p2p freezing is a bug in the linux that exists on the nas. Somehow the linux random files are currupted or samething like that.
I have SSH access on mine, and the solution was delete the random and urandom nodes, and build them again...But the problem come back, so i have to do it again

Hi all,

I noticed that v1.02 when I refreshed the uPnP contents only my photos will go through.... If i add a video file folder (contains .MKV .AVI .WMV .MP4) it will freeze at a certain percentage (e.g 15%) throughout and sqldb process will be stuck at 100%. Anyone has similar problems that I am facing? I remembered v1.01 doesn't have this issue. Besides this, all is well with v1.02.

Silly question (Google search starting) but how you do rebuild your random & urandom nodes? And after you delete them and have them rebuilt how long does it take before the problem comes back again? This issue is highly annoying and I really hope someone could alert D-Link to the issue so that it can get some resolution...

Hi,

What to say...... Firmwares 1.02bxx are in regression regarding 1.01 for UPNP with Samsung TV and others.

Some correction as been made in the UPNP protocol, with UPNP controller asking for one element NAS but now a new error happen before (in the time).
There is now a mismatch in the UPNP object ID and the nas is no more able to identify it's own identifier!!!!!!!!!!

In firmware 101 the Id looks like file path. example:0/video or 0/movies .....

Title: Re: DNS-320L - Firmware v1.02b07 Comments & Observations
Post by: bszellak on July 19, 2013, 01:45:02 PM
Hi,

I have also upgraded my DNS-320L to 1.02 fw and I was hoping for a fix to the DLNA compatibility issue with my Samsung smart TV as it is in the fw release notes.
Unfortunately my UE46F6500 still does not see any files on the NAS. (It sees the NAS but none of Video/Music/Photo folders contains any files acc to the TV)

I hope someone can answer these 2 questions:

   1) Some of you wrote that they were able to use the SamsungTV-DNS320L combo with fw 1.00 and 1.01. How did you do that? Do you have any hints to make this work? Did you share any specific folders maybe?

   2) The only folder I can share is the main volume called Volume_1 with all the content on the NAS (I have this only one option under Account Management/Network Share/Network Shares Settings and also under Application Management/Multimedia Services/Multimedia Shares Settings when I click New or Add). I would like to create a folder named Video, Music or Photo and I hope in this case the TV will find something. Do you know can I create shared folder different than Volume_1?

Thank you for your help in advance!

If these will not work I have to see if funplug and Twonky server can fix the issue or not.

management->account management-> network shares -> new
then click on the name "volume_1", not on the square check or the folder icon as it would be logical (dlink interface is terrible), it should open the subfolders, chose which one you want to share and click the check square.
then follow all other options about users, permissions and such.

It is a shame to have to change things so basic.

Things not working for me (all by connecting as admin to the web interface remotely):
- downloading folders (single file still works)  (my folders sections)
- impossible to create pics folder even with very few pictures (will load forever and ultimately, nothing happened)
- can't activate p2p at all
- when I try to save a configuration file, I got a internal servor error (500)

An official update can't come soon enough for me. Neither the last firmware nor the associated fix for it worked for me, in fact it stopped many key features from working at all so I'm checking every day for something that restores this functionality.

Ugh,....  I had version 1.01 on my 320LW, and it was ok.  I installed version 1.02b07 and it now :

Refuses to read any folders from my Samsung series 6 tv
Refuses to read any folders from my PS3
The GUI can't be successfully traversed via my ipad
Serious CPU issues
Not sure if this was the same before - but cant play a film with Dolby Digital sound

For me - this renders the whole NAS drive useless.  Surely - this is D-Link at an all time low??

Please D-Link - if you actually read this forum (and care about your customers) - sort this out!!!

Will there ever be a (more or less) working new firmware or is the DNS-320L already end of life? I'm asking, because a few months ago there was an update for the mydlink iOS App which always shows me a message that a new firmware is available with new functions. Firmware 1.02b07 is already out for a long time but still not working great as seen on several posts on here.  ??? Im disappointed, i cannot try out all these nice new features announced with 1.02.

Hi there, again.

Does anybody know, why my DNS-320l sometimes doesn't start?
Ex. after running down today the NAS didn't start. The Power-LED blinked, but not the HDDs. No reaction.

Reseted: nothing.
Disconnected/reconnected: nothing.

Disconnected and waited for a couple of minutes: nothing.
Same again, waited: works as usual.

I'm confused about this: exactly the same problem comes up intermittet, but there's no pattern.

Any ideas about this?

Regards.

Hi, Folks.

The problem with the not-starting NAS now is a day-by-day thing.  >:( >:(
Lucky to get it started I'm in covering my data (the new Synology is waiting for) and then this cra**y thing gets back to the dealer.

My resume: never ever again a D-Link.

Thanks for all Your help, especially Lavalawyer with Your engagement.
The support of D-Link should pay You for this ;-)

Regards an all the best,

itsme.
