Hi,

In order to use "Advanced DNS" (or OpenDNS) on my DIR-655, I would love a new feature to ensure URLs only contain DNS Names and not "IP Addresses".  This will ensure that the "Advanced DNS" (or OpenDNS) feature will get used.  I know this feature already exists on the Billion ADSL Modems, however, I can only use Cable Internet and anyway, D-Link routers are heaps better!

Would it be possible to add this feature?

Cheers,
Ledge.

I haven't yet found a place to report Forum issues here, but hopefully a Mod will read this.

You now have a section called "Apearance" with no posts in it.

It would really make a bigger impression on the General Poplace if you spelled the word correctly!

"Appearance" is the proper spelling in English...

I'm not a DGL user, but I'm sure that SecureSpot is now a dead issue since Cisco acquired it.  After the free month, I was innundated with junk from them and it screwed up my network.  I had to really work to delete their software.  The concept is nice, but the implementation was lousy.  If you want to manage a network, try Spiceworks, it's free.

I, for one am impatiently waiting for 64bit OS versions of software for Dview Cam!  The 32bit OS market is shrinking, and Vista64 and now Win7 64bit has arrived on many new laptops and desktops!

We've heard promises of it "being in the pipe", but just how long is this pipe?  ;)

Hi,

I cannot figure out how to make a new thread and urgently need information so I am posting here.

I have the DCM 202 and the software version currently is at 1.1 where the newest is 2.0.
I found that inorder to update I must use hyper terminal according to the help files in DLINK site.  I am running Win 7 and don't have a XP computer and MSFT removed the hyper terminal feature in Vista.  Can someone please guide me to upgrading my modem to the latest so I can once again get access to my internet at home?

Thanks for all the help.

SecureSpot is a waste of time. DLink has dropped the ball here. You can't even get in touch with them for an issue or even the existing 3 month on-going problems.

Contact numbers are disconnected or never connects. Tried from my cell, home, even a payphone, and a friend in a neighboring state. All of which tells me its disconnected or just never rings bringing it back to a dial tone.

(NO REBOOT CONFIG CHANGES)

power users are tweakers we like to play with different settings.

the more features you can change without having to reboot the router the better.

i used a router that i changed all sorts of settings without having to reboot and it leaves you feeling that you are using a high quality product.

Thisis rediculous I spent like almost $200 dollars on a DGL 4500 gamming router that does not even come out with good firmware....I updated to 1.15 thinking hey there is an update sweet....wrong....my router worked just fine with firmware 1.02 and now i am stuck with a router that i cnt port forward or tweak because every time you hit the save settings it automatically reboots and does not save your settings....what a peice of shize.. They should have to give refunds for crap like this...and to top it off they still have no fix for it...nice support more like we got your money and now your screwed.....Oh yeah and i tried reverting back to 1.13 and everything goes well except that after it says successfully uploaded I go back in and it still says firmware 1.15 imagine that.....Anyways, I will give it a little bit before I bad mouth this to all my coworkers and fellow servicemen about not too buy this or any D-link router....which being in the military I come across alot of people...
I mean I understand that things come out and they have an issue and they release a fix for that but not D-link the only decent firmware they have came out with that seems to work is the original 1.02 how do you releaselike 3 bad ones in a row....It's called R&D people do it..... because how in the heck did they test this firmware out and not have these issues...
Anyways I would greatly appreciate any tips or fixes or help with this not saving my settings issue..thanks

I'm trying hard to appreciate D-Link and its camera firmware, but there is one key thing that still really irks me about the software:  it's only available over Internet Explorer!  Does this fact bother anyone else?

The latest Jan-2010 report from Net Market Share states that iE's market share over internet browser's is diminishing, granted the browser is still used by 75% of folks in the market, but there are other browsers in existence too!

DNSSEC would be nice in addition with IPv6
Registration of the DHCP clients in the internal DNS would be great, too.

I would like to use DDNS with security settings.

I would like to open up FTP for just a few persons outside my network and open up for just those networks that I trust.

Since the few networks that I trust are private networks with dynamic IP addresses I would love to be able to use DDNS addresses with the security settings (Inbound Filter) in addition to IP addresses and ranges.

Could you please do that? It should not be that difficult to implement?

I would like to be able to define up/down bandwidth limits for the WLAN guest zone and/or for specific SSIDs. Is this currently possible or a planned feature for an upcoming firmware update?
If not, do you think it would be possible to fit such a "simple" advanced option in the QoS engine or in the advanced wireless settings?

Need to support larger new DNSSEC packets!
« Reply #29 on: April 13, 2010, 09:47:14 PM »

DIR-625 not able to support larger new DNSSEC packets!

-----

DIR-625 v1.09

http://labs.ripe.net/content/testing-your-resolver-dns-reply-size-issues

Announced Buffer Size = 512 bytes
Measured  Buffer Size = 486 bytes
EDNS enabled   = yes
DNSSEC enabled = yes

Your resolver announaced a buffer size bigger than the largest packet that it can receive.

Your resolver was only able to get packets SMALLER than 512 bytes.

- Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit with all updates.
- Sun Java 6 Update 19.
- Comodo Internet Security v4.0.138377.770.
