Can you try a external drive with power and see if you get the same results?

I'll send a message to my contact and see if we can get any information on this. Seems the others are seeing this issue on other products as well from what I've been told.

Got a neighbor, friend or family that you could barrow one from for a short time? Maybe get one at a local store that has a refund policy? Best buy or Frys?

I have a USB drive at home...I suppose I can connect mine up and test and see...I use a PC as a media server so I haven't used any media services on routers. I might have you detail me some set up and types of files your using and I'll set mine up the same way and see. This could be an issue with not having power to the USB drive vs a powered one.

Ok so I powered up my 645 FW v1.02 and connected my 2Tb WD My Book and set up a temp folder with a few MP3s and a couple of videos. After looking thru the DLNA settings I figured that setting up a folder with just a few files would be good instead of waiting for the poor router to scan my other files and taking forever to populate itself.

I had a windows PC connected via LAN and after the router gave me a successful scan of the specified drive and folder. I opened Windows Media Player and saw the router and the DLNA listed. Opened the DLNA listing and it displayed the files I had out in the specified folder and was sharing the files. Each played successfully. I also tired over a wireless N connection using same PC with a DWA-160. All played and connected to the DLNA files that are shared out.





I believe at least DLNA is working as long as the USB drive has a external power source.

Same as you,  I can see the files on my windows 7 system and I use a  USB memory stick with no external power.

Problem is not with the PC but with the TV and Bluray player not fully recognizing the media server. I sent you screenshot in my email.   

Anyway,  tks for all your time and efforts.    I will probably ended up picking  a Belkin N600 or N750.
It is cheaper than the 645  ,  has a working media server and Dual Band.

Possible that there is a issue with the TV and BD player?

I'll check my boxee box and see if It can see it...I don't have any TVs or other players that use DLNA.

Issue fixed,

Returned the DLINK router and replaced it with a Belkin N750.    Wow  works like a charm and the media server software is from  Twonky.   

USB stick with no external power works beautifully  and all my devices see the server.

Issue is a user configuration problem and not a DIR-645 problem. Enjoy.
