DIR-645 Login failure
« on: March 22, 2012, 03:44:15 PM »

I set up my new DIR-645 with both an Admin and a user password.  I was able to log into the router using the assigned password twice.  This morning when I went to log in, both the Admin and user password were not accepted.  :'(
I have confirmed that I was entering password properly and in proper case.  Have tried IE, Firefox and Chrome browsers just in case. The system seems to be operating just as I set it up, including timers and filters.
I saved the config at last logoff, so did a reset and restore from file, issue still exists. Because of the time involved in setup and tweaking I am loath to do a reset and manual reprogram  Can anyone tell me what might have caused this?  I did not update firmware or reset the modem.  Thank you.

Are you clicking the Log-In button on the web page or hitting enter on the keyboard after you enter in the PW?

I've tried both, it does not matter.  Same message appears..."Username or Password is incorrect"   ???

Same here ... I've reset my router back to factory settings four times now.  >:( The router is working just fine. I'm connected to it now. So all it's wifi and hardline configs are still working.

Another odd behaviour: Sometimes when I go to the login page, it gives me a drop-down box that allows me to select 'admin' or 'user'. Other times, it gives me a text box when I type in 'admin' or 'user'. How is it that the GUI just changes like this?

I've confirmed that my admin password is being reset to blank. I spent a considerable amount of time working on this thing, configuring, rebooting. I logged in as admin with my admin password many times. Now, a week or two later, the password is blank. I am logged into the web UI as admin having not entered anything in the password.

On the tools page, the admin and user password fields are blank.

WTF?

I have the DIR-645 for a week now and already had the blank password issue 3 times. It happens after I reboot the router, but not every time. Thank god the password is only blank, so you don't have to reset.

Using firmware version 1.01. I hope it will be fixed soon.

I will wait for a normal release. The password issue is only an annoyance for me at the moment and I don't want to risk getting other issues by running a beta fw.

I have the same issue.  Set the password, rebooted the router, and couldn't get in.  I tried a blank password, but that didn't work.  Had to reset the router completely.  I have kept the password blank because I'm afraid it will just happen again.

Not to mix issues here, but I'm also experiencing the problem where my connections max out at 65/72 Mbps, even after following everything in the sticky.  I think having access to the 20/40 MHz Coexistence setting might help (as someone posted in another thread).

Anyway, could I please have the link to the Beta firmware?  I have hardware revision A1 (is there a newer revision?)

Cheers!

Canada.

I upgraded the firmware yesterday.  It did not go super smoothly -- I had to run the procedure twice for it to "take."  I haven't yet tested to see if the password is still disappearing because I was too busy just trying to get my devices connected again so my wife could check Facebook.  8^)  I'll report back when I get a chance to play with it some more.

I did a quick test of the 20/40 Coexistence setting, and it didn't seem to help my speeds.  I'm not convinced the DIR-645 is at fault, however.  I have learned that my tablet, for example, is only capable of 65Mbps max.  I'm researching the wi-fi chipsets in my other gear to see if they are the limiting factors....
