Hi,

Finally took the plunge onto the 1.11Beta.  SO far, it seems to have me running a bit faster on Speedtest.net, but maybe its just the time of day.

Even after following the basic Save Configuration File steps, I ended up having to 1)Reset the router (A2) to default after the firmware update.  2) Had to re-enter all the configuration settings manually because altho the firmware update saved the configurations, not all of them worked rightly, such as Access Control settings and the Edit items and Add new Items....

Haven't tried any wireless devices thus far but will do so in the AM....am not expecting any issues.

I would like to point out that I was not able to do some of this when using Internet Explorer v7 (and also beta 8), but I was able to properly edit the pages using Maxthon browser v2.

Not sure if browser type and version is affecting people without realizing it...but perhaps so.

Thanks  Davevt31, I tried it ,and it works great, I am just used to other routers, where it has help as a separate tab. But this works great. (as long as I don't forget...LOL)

Backdoctor52, you can open the help link in a new tab (I am assuming your are using IE 7) by either clicking with the middle wheel button, hold the CTRL key while clicking with left button, or right click the link and select open in new tab.

Can we get an update on the firmware progress Lycan, coming up on 4 months without a new firmware update.  I sure hope the beta firmware has been getting improvements and updates that have not been posted here because it sure didn't fix my problem. ( i RMA'd my router as no matter what firmware was on it, it would reboot every 1 minute, so maybe the new one will work perfectly as a router should)

We currently do not have a release date for any new firmware.

If you're having a problem with a product, you need to understand that you are having it. It is not happening to everyone, it's happening to select individuals , and not a problem with the firmware or the device but a problem with the environment that the unit is operating in. Yes, sometimes firmware can correct these problems, but in this case the 655 and the 1.11 code is operating phenomenally as far as most users are concerned.

I understand your frustration and realize that sometimes it seems like the firmware could be the only possible answer, but this time unfortunately, it's not the case here.

Please continue to follow the tech supports instructions are we'll do our best to ensure that you problem is resolved to the best of our ability.

You say that there is an environment problem causing the issues of random router reboots, disconnects, etc. Can you quantify those "environmental" problems so that, perhaps, those of us who are experiencing such things can go about correcting them?

I've yet to be able to use this product with any stability and, frankly, I'm well beyond the "warranty" period.  Perhaps I should simply shy away from DLink products in the future?

The other thing that could be done is that you could release the entire firmware source code so that a community, much like that for the Linksys WRT series, could possibly develop.  That might solve a great number of problems for everyone involved.  Its just a thought...

Hardware A2 Firmware 1.11

I have had problems using the Access Control List since upgrading to 1.11.

Successfully loaded beta 1.1MSBeta, but can not use the ACL capability.

I still get "name can not be empty string" for the name of the policy.
I have loaded settings with and without the ACL capability.
Once I try to add a policy name it can not be saved or
if I try to enable an existing policy it can not be saved.
Have tried a hard reset with 1.11MSBeta loaded with no luck with ACLs.
I have not gone back to 1.03, as one person said they had success.
I will try from 1.03 some other day, and reply.
I guess I am one of the few unlucky ones.

I do notice that 1.11 MSBeta GUI is faster.

A1 had green lights and A2 had blues ones. The A3 has a realtec switch instead of the Vitesse used in the a1/a2.

I wanted to start a thread for all the DIR-655 users that are running the aforementioned "beta" code.

Please try to keep the feed back constructive and if possible, positive.
We will do our best to answer any questions you have in a timely and orderly manner.

I did install the MS version recently on my router, everything seems to work fine except that periodically the router looses (or drops) all wireless connections. It seems to be around midnight everyday. I have two DWL-552 and three laptops on 802.11g only.
On the router, it shows no wireless connections and the clients cannot connect (but they see the network).

Does this behavior continue if the standard 1.11 code is returned to the unit?
