I tried ABE again same issue.
ABE IS BROKEN USE MANUAL :)
I haven't had any issues other than dupes.
Use the post I wrote see if it works for you.

Note: My gaming performance is way better thank before using the new FW.
So for that I'm happy but I hope dlink can get these other issues worked out quickly. They are close to a solid gaming router but the buggy FW is off putting. I pray that they fix these issues in a timely manor and not another 7 months without a fix

I find my gaming and streaming experience is much better with stream boost completely off.  I had it set to manual and I was getting half my bandwidth on speed tests.  With stream boost completely off I get the advertised speed.

Tonight I may do Furry's recommendations, and see if some of the problems go away.  It is stupid that, in order for the router to work right you have to let it "settle" for 24 hours.  I didn't have that problem before the latest beta.

  • What ISP Modem service link speeds UP and Down do you have?
How did you have SB manually set before you disabled SB?

Yes I know, this is odd set up behavior and really shouldn't be like this. I have asked D-Link to look at this behavior and I presume something will be done about it. However, it was what I experienced and managed to come up with as a work around to get SB and ABE working well. Mine has been still going for 9 days now. Gaming as been good and I haven't seen much or not any LAG while gaming yesterday and the day before. Played both wired and wireless.

Ok Mines a 50/3 however I'm using a Motorola SB 6180 cable modem.

Let us know about your modem and weather setting ABE disabled or manually inputting 50/25 in to ABE does anything.

Speed package = 50/25

I have wi-max 5 down/1 up, so I had it manually set at 5.50 down and 1.25 up.  With no other devices on, speedtests were 2.5 to 3 down and 1 up.

With stream boost off I get between 4.5 and 5.25 down and 1 up.

I will reset and see what happens.

Ok yes please try the new update process and let SB and ABE have time to figure things out. Is this ISP modem a modem only or does it have a built in router?

After a few days, try manually setting 6.00 and 2.00 for ABE if speeds are not comparable for automatic SB and ABE.

I have wi-max 5 down/1 up, so I had it manually set at 5.50 down and 1.25 up.  With no other devices on, speedtests were 2.5 to 3 down and 1 up.

Djid10t I would just use manual with Furry's speeds of 6.00 and 2.00.

ABE-"Checking this box will enable testing that (Will Consume) bandwidth beyond normal usage"

With your lower speeds ABE might just slow things down.

My speed package is 30/5 when using ABE and letting it test I get 31.99 and 5.37 on SB.
However when running a speed test I get about 27.95 and 4.85. (give or take a bit)

This is even the case using manual.
I have never let it bother me seeing as I'm only missing a bit of speed.

This has been the case sense I got the router when it was first released.
I've tried using a higher manual speed such as 35.00 and 6.00 and speed tests showed my actual speed. (Witch does work but takes tinkering)

For months now I've used 31.00 and 5.50.
When I speed test I still get 27.95 and 4.85 (again give or take) Still doesn't bother me!

After doing lots of research before and after getting the router StreamBoost (at least for gaming) is supposed to keep Ping times low on Gaming.
That it does and has done sense day 1!

A good example of this is if you own Cod Black Ops or Cod Black Ops 2.
If you go into the settings menu of the game and press the back button (on 360) it will show you connection info about the game.

If your package is 10 down or above and SB is off then Cod should say you have 10000kbps.
When SB is on then number lowers to about 3000kbps or so.

This gives us the optimal usage for Xbox Live.
Witch doesn't require that much speed. (at least for gaming)
And needs lower Ping more than Speed.- http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-360/networking/slow-performance-solution

I personally just don't trust ABE just use manual. (Extra BW usage I don't like)
If it doesn't bother you that a bit of speed is missing don't then don't worry about it.
(Note I did try ABE again after Furry said he got it working It did the same and reset everything again)

If speed loss does bother you try to find that speed sweet spot using manual to get speed tests to show your correct speeds.

StreamBoost and the router have been up for days using the steps I posted and other than dupes NO ISSUES.

My Xbox One, Wii U, Xbox 360, PC, and 2 phones are up and feeling more responsive with SB on.

In closing if you pay attention to PING when playing a game online SB is very stable and does what it is built to do.
I would just tinker with the speeds until you feel good about them.

Also StreamBoost doesn't work exactly like old QOS.
It's more about Ping and Speed usage at the time a device is on.
So if you use Netflix or whatever on and Xbox One and It's in slot 1 and your wife or whoever is watching Netflix on the Wii U in slot 2.
Your slot 1 will have priority over slot 2.
So the Wii U may be degraded to keep up with you Xbox One.

This goes for every device doing the same thing at the same time.
So put the priorities in order with that in mind.
SB works on the fly looks at what your doing and gives speed and ping based on what the network is doing.
All while trying not to exceed the total bandwidth coming into your home.

Hope all that helps  ;D

Thanks for all this information.

I'd like DJ to test my suggestion first then if it seems to not work well, by all means manually input ISP speeds and compare and please post the results too.

I have been playing BO2 this past weekend as break from Ghosts. Sure miss it even thought there is a ton of quick scoping now and some issues with the game. Still have a better time on it than I do with Ghosts.  ::)

I'm getting near or similar speeds results with SB and browser speed tests. I need to go back and check again, however last time I did, both were the same. I'm on a 50/3 package here.

Thanks for the info VaultOverseer.

So I just did this.  I did a speed test to Atlanta (I am in Michigan) with StreamBoost off got my right speeds 5d/1u.  Turned StreamBoost on and hit the "test bandwidth" button on the StreamBoost page and it came back 1.96d/1u.  I think running the speed test against the D-link servers is causing some issues for me.

Edit: I would like to add that I have not had erroneous speed reports before this beta.

Thanks for posting the manual speed difference. Please try the new FW update process this evening and let SB have a chance to do it's testing outlined in the process and to settle in.

What is the Mfr and model of the ISP modem?

Thanks for the info VaultOverseer.

This POE, Power over Ethernet? If so, I wonder if there could some issues with this and this router.  ??? There has been some issues with users using PoE devices or managed switches with these home class routers.

I'm also concerned about your ISP being WiFi and not some forum of cabled service. I wonder if SB may have an issue with WiFi, even though WiFi is fairly good, there is some delay and lag time I presume maybe on some level that SB may not be able to deal with or handle correctly.  :-\ Maybe in your case, SB needs to be disabled or use manual settings.  :(

Ok well, I guess you be happy to know that when I got home today and was going to check the status of the router and DAYS online and received the following in my Safari browser:
"500 - Internal Server Error"
 >:(
I can not access the routers web page however I still have internet access and the router and WiFi seem to be working. Been good up until today which is about 9-10 days of online time. I presume that if I power cycle the router I'll get regain access to the UI. Last time I was in the UI was yesterday.

1) Windows 8 and Firefox. Or iPad/iPhone and ios 7.1.1

2) Optimum online (I'll get the modem info later)

3) Virtual server (I posted screenshots for you earlier)

5) It happened both ways. Enabled and disabled. It's not the logging in issue. I'm completely locked out of the router. Can't even join the network. Happens with both radios. The 2.5 and 5ghz radios.

Try disconnecting from the wifi and then try reconnecting. See if you can reconnect. I bet you can't.
